
Advocating for the Rights and Dignity of Trans & Non-Binary Bajans

In 2022, Barbados became one of the most recent Caribbean countries to strike down its buggery laws as unconstitutional. Butterfly Trans Barbados, alongside partners such as ECADE and Equals, supported the advocacy that helped bring national attention to the need for legal reform and equal protection for LGBTQ+ people.

Butterfly Barbados provides support for trans and non-binary people navigating daily challenges – from accessing healthcare and mental-health services, to workplace discrimination, housing instability, and social exclusion.

We work with healthcare providers, social workers, educators, corporations, businesses and community organisations to create systems that respect and understand trans and non-binary identities.
